Week 22
We had our anatomy scan last Friday. It was so neat watching him move around on the screen. As soon as the tech put the wand on my belly, he immediately started kicking it! lol He was moving around a ton during the whole thing. They didn’t get great measurements on everything, but all looked good. They estimated he weighs about 1 pound. He sure has come a long way since the first time I saw him as a tiny little bean on the screen.
Gender: Boy!
Total weight gain: about 12 lbs
Maternity clothes: Still just the jeans and shorts. I think I will go look for some tops this weekend. I’m having a hard time finding shirts that are long enough to fit over my bump.
Sleep: Sleep is good besides waking up to use the restroom. Although the other night, I didn’t even have to get up once! One night though, the little guy kicked me so hard it woke me up! He should be sleeping when I’m sleeping. I guess I better get used to him waking me up. :)
Cravings: I’ve been wanting a lot more chocolate this week. I have a secret stash of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in my desk drawer. I’m trying to stay away from the sweets, but it’s so hard!
Symptoms: Not really any symptoms lately. I’ve been having some slight heartburn, but that’s about it. I guess that’s why they call the second trimester the “golden trimester”. I feel great!
Movement: I feel him multiple times a day. Sometimes hard little kicks and jabs. Other times his movements feel very faint. I can actually watch my stomach move now. It looks like little muscle twitches. I still find it crazy that I can feel him moving around in there. Just makes it that much more real!
The bump: It’s getting bigger and bigger every week. I love that I actually look pregnant now.
Belly button in or out? Still in, but it’s less shallow.
Mood: Super happy about the baby! But this last week has been rough. Dealing with getting over my cold and a headache that lasted for three days, made me not a happy camper.
Best moment of this week? Seeing our little guy move around at the ultrasound we had last Friday. What are you looking forward to? The weekend, so we can go find some carpet for the nursery.
I love seeing how much I’ve grown. I can’t believe I thought I had a bump at 12 weeks! ha! I’m sure in another 8 weeks, I’ll be laughing at my bump at 22 weeks.
Jack has been working hard this week on the nursery. He completed the electrical and installed a ceiling fan. In my opinion, a ceiling fan is a must where I live. It’s too hot to not have one. They may not be attractive, but they’re practical. He’s almost done with the painting. He pretty much just has to finish the edges, and then all done! I loooove the color! It’s Behr’s Sterling in satin. It’s the perfect light gray color.
Next on the to do list is purchase carpet and a pad and hopefully get it installed next week. I feel like once the paint and carpet are all done, I’ll feel more inspired with what to do with the rest of the space. I have a general plan in my head, but it’s time to start making some decorative decisions. I can’t wait!
And here is Sadie, because she’s just too cute to not post a photo of.

Week 21
Finally getting to do a update with my normal pic! Last time I did one was at 18 weeks. I’ve been out of the country. We left the day I was 19 weeks and I was in Taiwan when I hit 20 weeks. I’m so happy to be home now. Jack is on summer break now from work, so he’s gotten started on the nursery. He installed the electrical, so we can put in a ceiling fan. And he also patched up all the holes to prepare for paint! I can’t wait to see that room painted!
Gender: Boy!
Total weight gain: about 10 lbs
Maternity clothes: Loving my maternity jeans and shorts. I also got a maxi dress that is super comfy. I had bought some stuff at Motherhood and now I have a $30 off coupon that I’ll probably use next weekend. I’ll get some tops next time around.
Sleep: Sleep has been ok for the last week. I was in Taiwan for part of the time and their beds are so hard! One bed I slept in was so hard that I would wake up with shooting pains running down my legs. Then we got home and I was jetlagged. Then I got a cold, which has been making sleep harder. Oh and all this week back at work, I’ve been going to bed at 8 PM and waking up at 5 AM before my alarm even goes off. I hope this next week is better.
Miss anything? Nope! It’s all worth it for this little guy.
Cravings: After we got back from Taiwan, we went to Costco to get some food and I saw these stuffed peppers that looked really yummy. We didn’t get them, but that night I dreamed about eating them with a bunch of candy and milk. So Jack went to get them the next day. Also, been having a thing for pickles this week. They’re just so refreshing and crunchy. Yum.
Symptoms: Just been more tired this week which could be due to the traveling.
Movement: I love feeling all his movements. I feel it a few times a day, mostly when I’m sitting or laying quietly. Jack has only felt it once. His movements are not always strong enough to feel on the outside.
The bump: It’s growing more and more. I feel like I actually look pregnant now as opposed to just eating too much. lol Everyone keeps telling me how cute I am, which makes me smile.
Belly button in or out? Still in, but it’s less shallow.
Mood: Been feeling happy this week. Of course with all the traveling and adjusting brings on some crankiness, but overall happy.
Best moment of this week? Coming home! Taiwan was an adventure, but there’s no place like home.
What are you looking forward to? Anatomy scan today! I can’t wait to see my little guy again and I just hope that all checks out perfect with him.

Weeks 19 & 20
So I’ve been a bit MIA lately and slacking on my updates. We’ve been super busy. First with preparing for our trip to Taiwan, and then the actual trip! I will have to do a recap of our trip. It was definitely an adventure. I’m trying to get back into the groove of things with going back to work and settling into our routine again. Now I’m dealing with allergies or a cold, not sure which one. Not fun.
How far along? 20 weeks (I’m actually 21 now, but I’m writing this to represent 19 & 20 weeks)
Estimated due date: October 25, 2012
Gender: Sweet baby Boy!
Total weight gain: about 10 lbs
Symptoms: Nothing really. Been feeling really great.
Movement: Definite movement! I feel it multiple times a day now and it’s getting strong and stronger. Jack felt the baby for the first time while we were in Taiwan. It was such a special moment. He was placing his ear on my tummy to see if he could hear anything in there, and the baby starting kicking his ear!
The bump: Definitely sticking out more and more in the last couple of weeks. In Taiwan, people could obviously tell I was pregnant. It’s taking some getting used to having a belly that sticks out all the time.
Maternity clothes: Maternity jeans and shorts. So so comfy! I’ll probably get some tops in the next couple of weeks.
Belly button in or out? Still in, but it’s less shallow.
Miss anything? Nope!
Sleep: Sleep is good. Just getting up to use the restroom is annoying.
Cravings: Still wanting fruity candy. Not really having any strong cravings though.
Mood: Been very happy.
Best moment of this week? Can I just say the whole trip to Taiwan?
What are you looking forward to? Seeing some nursery progress and our anatomy scan on Friday.
Since I was out of town, here is a bump photo of me in Taiwan.
