Week 14
This last week has been very exciting. Monday we had the NT scan, so we got to see our little one wiggling around in there. Afterwards, we picked up my mom and had a nice dinner at Hungry Hunter, and we had a blast looking at all the photos I got of the wee one. Tuesday I finally told my work the news. They actually weren’t very surprised. I guess I didn’t do a good of job as I thought hiding it. But everyone was very supportive and very happy for me. Also, Tuesday I announced the big news on Facebook. So all my friends and family know and it’s finally out there. No more lying to people and hiding it. It’s such a relief to not keep it a secret anymore. I loved all the congratulations we received.

How are you feeling? Feeling better and better with each passing week. I’m finding I’m not as sensitive to smells anymore. I actually ate some broccoli, so that’s a great sign! Although chicken still doesn’t appeal to me. Will I ever want to eat chicken again?! I only threw up twice in the last week, so that’s a huge improvement. I’m hoping I can go this whole next week with out puking. Oh and last night I actually stayed up until 10 PM! That’s the latest I’ve gone to bed on a work night in a LONG time. So my energy is definitely on the rise.
Gender: Jack and my mom keep referring to the baby as a “he”. And now Jack’s mom also thinks it’s a boy. I have one coworker who says girl. I dunno. I’m on the fence about it. Deep down I’m saying boy, but I don’t know if that’s mother’s intuition or just the fact that Jack keeps saying, “him”. lol I’d truly be thrilled with a boy or girl.
The bump: Bump is there. It still gets bigger as the day goes on, so there’s still some bloating going on. But when I first wake up in the morning, there is a nice tiny, hard bump. Baby is growing!
Maternity clothes: I wore my maternity jeans to work for the first time today. SO comfortable! Though they kind of slide down a bit.
Sleep: Sleep is great besides having to get up to go pee.
Cravings or aversions? Not really craving anything. Still having aversions to chicken.
Mood: So so happy this week! This pregnancy and this tiny human I’m growing is starting to feel really real. I’m getting more and more excited with each passing day.
Best moment of this week? Seeing the babe wiggling around and announcing the pregnancy.
What are you looking forward to? The weekend. I’m starting to feel the nesting urge. I’ve got a couple organizing projects around the house I want to get done.

Baby is active!
I had the NT scan today. It was so amazing seeing the baby bouncing around in my uterus. Jack was just amazed at how much he/she was moving around in there. Its little arms were waving around and its head was bobbing. So cute! The fluid measurement was within the normal range, so I’m thinking our risk of Downs shouldn’t be too high. I’ll find out after I get my second blood draw between 15-20 weeks.
Baby was waving at us in this photo! My heart just melted.
A profile shot. You can see his/her little nose. So cute! I’m so in love already.
Jack and my mom keep referring to baby as a “he”. I’m starting to believe it’s a boy too, but I think that’s because everyone else keeps calling it a “him”. I won’t be shocked if it turns out to be a girl. So excited to find out in 4-6 weeks!

Week 13
Woo hoo! Second trimester baby! I’m slowing starting to feel better which is such a relief. My doppler came in the mail this week too. We tried it out and found baby’s heart beat right away. It was so amazing and such a relief. I think having the doppler is really going to bring me piece of mind.

How are you feeling? This last week has definitely been better than last. While I still feel occasionally nauseous and I threw up a few times, I feel a lot better. When I think back to weeks 8/9/10 and my all day misery, I’ve definitely improved. I’ve got a little more energy and I’m starting to feel the itch to start nesting. Jack and I finally rearranged our gym and finally hung the TV in there. My next step is cleaning out the future nursery closet.
Gender: I’m thinking boy but who knows. It’s a 50/50 chance I’m guessing correctly.
The bump: Bump is starting a little bit. I think it’s still a little bloating since it gets bigger as the day goes on, but when I first get up in the morning there’s a tiny bump. :)
Maternity clothes: I bought some maternity shorts over the weekend. I haven’t started wearing any of my maternity pants yet. Still using the hair tie trick to keep my pants up.
Sleep: I’m sleeping good besides waking up 1-2 times a night to go pee. One night it was 4 times which is ridiculous!
Cravings or aversions? Not really craving anything. Still having aversions to chicken.
Mood: Very happy this week.
Best moment of this week? Finally starting to feel somewhat normal again!
What are you looking forward to? My NT scan tomorrow! I’m a little nervous something will be wrong, but I’m so excited to see our baby. I hope he/she gives us a show!
I was lazy this weekend and didn’t do my normal bump shot. Please forgive this crappy photo. I got this dress at Target over the weekend. It will work nicely with my growing belly.

Week 12
According to some sources, I’ll officially be in the 2nd trimester by the end of this week! It’s very exciting. Baby is now the size of a lime weighing just half and ounce, and measuring about 2 inches long from crown to rump. Biggest development this week is reflexes. Little baby C will begin to open and close his/her fingers and make sucking movements. It’s so weird to think there is a tiny human growing inside of me that is half Jack and half me. I still don’t feel like this pregnancy has sunk in completely for me. Maybe after my next ultrasound.

How are you feeling? I’m not going to lie. This week has not been easy on my body. While I feel like the nausea is subsiding, I’ve been dealing with a really bad headache. It started Monday and hasn’t let up since. It’s now Saturday, so it’s been going on for almost a week. A few nights it was so bad it woke me up and I had to put an ice pack on my forehead. I’ve had headaches my whole life and I’m used to them; just nothing like this one. It’s terrible. I took a couple of days off work thinking I was getting sick, and I left early on Friday it was so bad. I’ve now tried to drink some caffeine which has helped a little. I really hope it lets up soon and this isn’t going to be a recurrent symptom throughout my pregnancy.
Gender: I had a dream this week that we are having a boy, so part of me thinks it’s a boy. I won’t be surprised if it’s a girl though. We’ll be thrilled with either.
The bump: A little bump. I can’t wait until I look obviously pregnant and not like I just ate too much.
Cravings or aversions? Not really craving anything. I think my appetite is coming back slowly.
Mood: So happy to be pregnant, but this headache is making me cranky at times.
Best moment of this week? Hitting the 12 week mark. It’s very exciting to be getting so close to the 2nd trimester and knowing our risk of miscarriage has reduced significantly.
What are you looking forward to? Ugh they moved my NT scan for the third time! So now I’m looking forward to the NT scan on the 23rd and being able to officially announce this pregnancy to the world.

Week 11

How are you feeling? I’ve had ups and downs this week. Dare I say morning sickness is subsiding a little? I definitely feel less nauseous than I was before, but I still threw up a couple of times this last week. I’ve had moments where I feel like I want my body back. I want to feel human again. I wonder if I’ll ever want to eat the foods I used to love again? Will I ever want to eat chicken again?! I’m sure I will. I’m just complaining from the depths of morning sickness here. I’ve also been experiencing crazy, vivid dreams every night. I don’t usually remember my dreams, but I can remember them every night with details and everything. One night last week I dreamed of eating a giant donut with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. Other dreams I’ve had are just too strange to try to explain here. I also have to get up to use the bathroom at least once every night. One night was three times!
The bump: A little bump, but I think it’s still bloat.
Cravings or aversions? Mostly experiencing aversions. I’m just eating whatever I can keep down and this point.
Mood: Happy most of the time with some crankiness mixed in there. It’s hard to feel happy when you feel like crap most of the time.
Best moment of this week? Celebrating Easter with my family yesterday. Getting together and eating and chatting. It doesn’t get any better than that.
What are you looking forward to? NT scan on the 16th! Just one week away!

Week 10
Baby is officially a fetus now! From what I’ve researched online, our chance of miscarriage has reduced to 5%. I’m getting more and more confidant that everything is going to be ok. I don’t think I’ll ever stop worrying though. I’m allowing myself to get more exciting about this pregnancy and this baby. I can’t wait to meet him or her.

How are you feeling? New symptoms? I feel like morning sickness hit it’s worst and is subsiding just a little. I had no sickness yesterday and I felt so good, I ate a salad at Hungry Hunter! It’s been a long time since salad seemed appealing to me. Of course this morning I threw up and I’m not feeling as good. Hopefully I start feeling better in the next couple of weeks.
Are you showing? This photo looks like I have a bump, but I think it’s still bloat.
Cravings or aversions? Still can’t stomach coffee or chicken. Not really craving anything in particular.
Mood: Super happy. I’ve finally found that I just have to eat small meals all day long. I can’t let my stomach get empty and I can’t eat too much or too fast.
Best moment of this week? A couple of things. First my grandma was in town, so I enjoyed spending time with her this last week. We went to the doctor this week and everything checked out great. The doctor first tried to find the heartbeat with the doppler, but because of my tilted uterus, he couldn’t find it. He brought in the portable ultrasound machine and we were able to see the heart beating on there. Thank goodness. I would’ve been so worried if he let us leave without knowing for sure the baby was ok. And last night Jack and I enjoyed a nice dinner with my parents and grandma at Hungry Hunter. I was feeling great and my appetite came back, and it’s always fun to watch my grandma get tipsy.
What are you looking forward to? Morning sickness going away and getting my energy back. Don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I’m looking forward to it. Also, I’m really excited about the NT scan scheduled for April 17th.
